Kevin Clarkson

Chief Operating Officer

• Mr. Clarkson joined Active Owners Fund in 2022. Prior to joining Active Owners Fund, Mr. Clarkson was at Angel Island Capital Management, a specialty finance portfolio company of Golden Gate Capital, with approximately $4B of assets under management. Mr. Clarkson served at Angel Island for over 8.5 years under various positions, including Controller, Principal and Head of Treasury & Operations
• Prior to Angel Island, Mr. Clarkson was a CPA and auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP
• BS in Business and Economics from Lehigh University

Jennifer Flowers

Director of Finance and 

Investor Relations

•  Ms. Flowers joined Active Owners Fund in 2010. Ms. Flowers has provided accounting and administrative support in the investment industry since 2004 and has worked closely with Mr. Pretlow for over 15 years. Prior to the formation of Active Owners Fund, Ms. Flowers served as Director of Accounting and Administration at JPC, a private equity firm. Prior to JPC, she held a number of positions in sales and marketing in commercial real estate
• Ms. Flowers holds a BA from University of California, Los Angeles

Aaquib Nasir

Senior Analyst

•  Mr. Nasir joined Active Owners Fund in 2018. Prior to joining Active Owners Fund, Mr. Nasir was an associate at Snow Phipps, a middle market private equity firm focused on control equity investments in North America
• Prior to Snow Phipps, Mr. Nasir was an investment banking analyst in the Global Healthcare Coverage group at Credit Suisse
• Mr. Nasir graduated Schulich School of Business and earned a BBA in Business Administration

Joseph Pretlow

Chief Investment Officer

• Mr. Pretlow co-founded AOF Management in 2010
• 31 years of investment management and private equity experience
• Prior to AOF, ran JPC, a private equity firm
• Before founding JPC, Mr. Pretlow was a Managing Director at Bain Capital. At Bain Capital, Mr. Pretlow spent ten years leading and managing private equity investments across the business services, media, consumer products, retail, healthcare, manufacturing and distribution industries. Mr. Pretlow has extensive experience in the public markets and has served on numerous public and private company Boards

Tom Ramirez

Senior Advisor

•  Mr. Ramirez joined Active Owners Fund in 2013. Mr. Ramirez has over 40 years of experience as a senior operating executive across a wide range of industries and, more recently, as a senior executive in the private equity industry. Mr. Ramirez was most recently a Managing Director at Huntsman Gay Capital Advisors. Prior to Huntsman Gay Capital Advisors, Mr. Ramirez was an advisor to Bain Capital. Mr. Ramirez was responsible for one of the most successful deals at Bain Capital in the health and wellness space and has worked closely with Mr. Pretlow for over 20 years
• Mr. Ramirez has served as a senior operating executive at numerous companies including BLI Holdings (former Bain Capital portfolio company), Herbalife (bought by Golden Gate whom Mr. Ramirez advised), Hughes Corporation and many others. Mr. Ramirez has held numerous Board of Directorships in both the for profit and not for profit sectors
• Mr. Ramirez received his MBA from Harvard Business School and his BBA from Loyola University

Rohan Soorabathula

Analyst

•  Mr. Soorabathula joined Active Owners Fund in 2021. Mr. Soorabathula was previously an investment banking analyst at Macquarie Group in the Infrastructure and Energy Group, where he focused on M&A in the Americas. During Mr. Soorabathula’s time at Macquarie Group, he worked with financial and strategic sponsors on both the buy-side and the sell-side across multiple industries including renewables, utilities, and transportation
• Mr. Soorabathula holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University, with concentrations in Finance and Accounting

Ben Terk

Head of Research

• Mr. Terk co-founded AOF Management in 2010
• 27 years of experience in the investment management and growth capital experience
•  Prior to co-founding AOF, Mr. Terk served as a General Partner with Rho Ventures, a New York-based venture capital firm that invests in a diverse set of industries, including healthcare, communications/hardware, and information technology 
• Prior to Rho, Mr. Terk was employed by Morgan Stanley & Co. for three years in their M&A Department and Venture Partners Group
• MBA from The Wharton School as a Palmer Scholar and a BA from Duke University – magna cum laude, phi beta kappa, with a BA in Economics
